About my Aesthetics

This page will be a collection of some of my miscallaneous musings. Currently a work in progress.

PLATO MAINFRAME

I realised the orange on black aesthetic is reminiscent of the PLATO mainframe system, which was used to develop some of the earliest CRPGS. While this is unintentional, I find it cool nonetheless.

METROID

The METROID NES aesthetic is intentional. I used the Brinstar tilesets for inspiration for the background, though the art is my own, and the palette is a clear homage. While the game is archaic and dated, it is a very striking game in terms of its visuals. I find the Metroids and many of the backgrounds great examples of minimalist pixel art, but most of the sprites are very mediocre. The second game on gameboy looks a lot better despite the lack of color, though the coloration is very well done in the first game.
